Debunking the Summer Laser Myth

As summer arrives, we often come across a common misconception regarding laser treatments. Many individuals believe that these treatments should be avoided during the summer season. However, let’s debunk this myth together.

Laser treatments are not exclusive to any particular region or season. Places like Arizona, Florida, California, and Hawaii—known for their sunny climates—regularly offer laser treatments without any issues. So, why should summer prevent you from pursuing your planned or recommended treatments?

The Real Rule: Protect Your Skin

The notion that summer makes laser treatments impossible stems from the belief that sun exposure hinders effectiveness and safety. While there is some truth to this, the answer is: "it depends." If you expose your skin to intense sunlight without any protection, it is best to avoid laser treatments. After all, why subject compromised skin to additional energy?

Tanned skin, although sometimes perceived as a sign of a healthy glow, is actually damaged skin. It would be irresponsible to perform laser treatments on sunburned skin. However, if you diligently protect your skin from UV and environmental damage using appropriate products, there is no reason to forgo laser treatments.

Products I Recommend

I personally recommend products containing titanium and zinc. These metals help repel ultraviolet rays, effectively cooling the skin. Some products are even specially formulated to shield the skin from pollution and blue light. By applying UV protection every day and reapplying every two hours when you are outside, you can safely undergo most laser treatments, including Broadband Light (BBL) and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

What If You Get Too Much Sun?

In the event that you unintentionally neglect UV protection and experience a setback, please inform us. We will guide you to exercise extreme caution with future sun exposure. If you are diligent about wearing protective measures, you can resume your laser treatments after approximately two weeks, allowing your skin sufficient time to recover.
